- In the year 1998 the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft/ German Research Foundation (DFG) started funding virtual libraries. These virtual libraries were part of an intiative which aimed at the enhancemant of the system of
supra-regional literature supply in Germany. The Saarland University and State Library (SULB) with its special subject collection Psychology established the virtual library psychology in 1998. This article focuses on
the aims of a virtual library, explains what has been done in order to establish a modern online retrieval system in psychology.
