• Information society, information age, research and development studies, information acquisition, information requirements have become common concepts for developed countries and respected as primarily pace of improvement. European Union proceeded greatly to be an information society by allocating serious budgets for research and development activities. As a candidate European country, Turkey has a long way to become an information society. In this paper, research and development activities in European Union countries and information services in Turkey are studied
