This paper comes up from a series of concerns regarding the role of the librarianship and information sciences professional in the present and future Mexican context, taking as a reference the high frequency that the terms of information society and knowledge society have been publicised in various documents, both from the government and of popularization, where it noticeable we are living this kind of processes from the past decade and in the current days where we are more intensively involved in the developement and evolving of processes of this kind.
