- Installing filters in Portuguese public libraries raises ethical and social issues by their conflict with freedom of access to expression and by the way the envisaged population may be deprived not only from the exposure to contents of their own choice but also from the opportunity to decide in the process; a review of the topic is done as it is has been approached in other countries and proposals are made in order to deal with the present situation in libraries.
