- With the continuous development of new technologies has been elected the value and the usefulness of treasures in the field of information retrieval. Thus, more informative organisms internationally constitutes treasures and more information services adopt or adapt treasures for the support of thematic access in the material that they allocates. The National Centre of Documentation made a first step for the creation of proportional infrastructure in the Greek libraries with the growth of Treasure of Greek Terms. In this presentation is given the modern picture of treasures and are approached questions of structure, presentation and use in the light of the experience that was acquired at the creation of Treasure of Greek Terms, and in the light of international developments, as these are reflected in the revisions of directives of constitution and growth of treasures. More concretely, are studied individual operations that are today technically feasible (as pilotage via hyper-links, techniques of search, extension of question, interoperability) and aim in the most optimal attribution of retrieval system that is based on treasure, independent from the degree of familiarization of final user with the system. At the same time is examined the way with which this operations shape, direct or indirect, concrete methods of layout and presentation of treasure.
