- Standardization is essential for proper transfer, storage and recovery of information. Standardization affects all aspects of information usage, and not only for professionals in information processing. The most prominent aspectsof professional practice in this field are adressed, including the IraLIS solution for citing Spanish authors with multiple surnames. There is a need for Spanish scientific authors to be aware that taking these actions will improve the visibility of their work in international citation resources.
