- The paper begins from the definition, characteristics and possibilities of
e-publications that indicate complex demands towards a librarian as the
responsible person in the acquisition of e-resources or in the instruction of
users for their use. The author reminds of a fast development of the
e-publishing during past five years, as well as of the questions following
it: copyright protection, acquisition methods, different types of licenses library investments problems whether it is about subscription to the
e-editions bought by the library or those created by digitizing items of the
own holdings. Some experiences related to the acquisition of the
e-publications in France, Switzerland and Serbia, with special attention to
the consortium acquisition, are described. The problems of the acquisition
growth on one side and inadequate use of the e-resources on the other side
are presented, as well as user desires towards the contents of the
e-resources and their access to uniform catalogue and interface. Student
problems in information searching indicate the need for teachers and
librarians to be included together in the user education. The author opposes
the abundance of the e-publications offers to selectivity and pedagogic role
