- The European Community through the Information Society notes the importance of reusing the Public Sector’s Information (PSI). The last, but perhaps, the most dynamic action that recently took place is the publicity of the European Community’s Instruction 2003/98/EC. The writers of the article, using the Case Study method, demonstrate how the Municipality of Athens (MoA) can reuse the information that produces. In a first place, the writers define the meaning of the term «Public Sector’s Information», analyse the European Community’s Instruction 2003/98/EC and describe the «administrative infrastructure» of the Municipality of Athens. By following the European Instruction and taking under consideration the organizational structure of MoA, the writers choose carefully those Departments that can produce reusable public information. Afterwards, a brief discussion takes place concerning major topics, such as the importance of the existence of a national policy for each state-member, the rights’ management, the cost of the information and the way that it will be disseminated to the citizens. Finally, the writers propose the Athens’ Public Library to play an administrative key- role of the whole project, by stating policies and taking actions.
