- Descripción
- The Italian publishing industry innovation strategy is having a hard time in embracing international competition. The recent legislative provisions aimed at modernizing this
sector have not had very promising outcomes. The sector shows a quite unbalanced picture featuring the presence of large internationally based companies, and small 'niche'
companies. Given the weak structure of the market, the ongoing initiatives are often carried out on a experimental basis, aimed at testing market's resistance, users' reactions, expectations, and at tracing the prospective customer identity. There are no indications of solid market perspectives so far. In this context librarians and documentalists again play a renewed intermediary role between producers who are discovering new roles and end-users who are facing new reading tools and styles.
