- The numbers of functions of web browser add-ons are increasing. Such add-ons included the recently launched LibX. This tool enables interaction between libraries’ online public access computers (OPAC) and the Web. This paper examines the limitations of this tool, in terms of the automatic detection of data and the automation of tasks. A system (NextLib) is proposed that can overcome these limitations by using a combination of different applications. This system is made up of a semantic database (LibX), a programme for automatically detecting data (Data Detector) and a learning by example (LBE) programme. The integration of these tools may allow greater interaction between the user and a website, and between a website and an OPAC.
