- Respect of Traditions or Needs analysis ? The Classification Marks of the County Library of Savoie
The County Libraries are not like other libraries : they are not generally accessible to the public. Their function at the head of a network represents the largest part of their preoccupations, even though it doesn't take up most of their time. Yet, like all other libraries they possess collections which they maintain themselves, relying of traditional professional practices and on analysis of their proper needs. It is within this framework that the County Library of Savoie has reformed its system of classification marks, implementing an approach that consists of putting analysis of need before respect for tradition.
