- An organization can use diverse methodologic tools with the purpose of obtaining the best results based on the conditions of competitiveness. One of them is benchmarking, that is used to identify the best practices in other organizations, with the objective to learn them and to improve the process or certain function. The concept of benchmarking is defined and his different modalities. The characteristics and possibilities of their application in libraries and units of information are analyzed, and a model for its use in the context is included.
