- Since about two decades, digitization has been the buzz word in many fields of human life. Since long, there is no question about advantages, benefits and profits of digitization or, to be a bit more precise, of digital processing. It has proven beyond doubt that the digital revolution has set out to conquer increasingly one area after the other. Reflecting on this we must not forget that digitization as understood by us broadcast people as a means to transfer audiovisual content from an analogue into a digital format is, basically, not a technology but rather a computer application, a computer-aided tool. It was the rapid development of ever faster computers solely which made digital processing possible.
