Following an introduction of a historical and cultural nature to the «Renaissance» and «Rennaissance humanism», the present study concerns itself with the evolution of libraries during this period. Thus, once the thirteenth century precedents in England and ltaly have been described, the study concentrates on the formation and growth of libraries during the following two centuries both in Europe and America, and not only publice, stare or ecclesiastical but also private, and in particular those created by the humanists. | Después de una introducción de carácter histórico-cultural sobre el «renacimiento » y el «humanismo renacentista», el presente estudio se centra en la evolución de las bibliotecas durante este periodo. Así, una vez expuestos los antecedentes trecentistas en Inglaterra e Italia, se profundiza en la formación y crecimiento de las bibliotecas durante las dos centurias siguientes, tanto en Europa como en América, no sólo públicas o estatales y eclesiásticas, sino también particulares o privadas, en especial de aquéllas creadas por los humanistas.
