• En el siguiente artículo se ponen de manifiesto una serie de servicios que son comunes a dos instituciones muy significativas en la actual sociedad de la información: las bibliotecas públicas y las redes ciudadanas. Entre estos servicios se pueden apuntar como más importantes, por un lado el acceso a la información y el acceso a las nuevas tecnologías e Internet y por otro la formación en el uso de las mismas y en el manejo de la información que de ellas se deriva, con el fin de convertirla en conocimiento, es decir, todo lo relacionado con la alfabetización digital e informacional. Estos factores constituyen, sin duda, la base de una necesaria cooperación que tendría una gran meta: la construcción de una red de información para la comunidad, en la que intervinieran todas las instituciones susceptibles de aportar información, bajo la tutela y dirección conjunta de las bibliotecas públicas y de las redes ciudadanas. El artículo se centra en las razones y en los beneficios que tendría el establecimiento de una red de trabajo conjunto de las bibliotecas públicas, con las redes ciudadanas en aquellas ciudades en las ambos servicios coexisten en la actualidad. | The following article highlights several services which are common to two very important institutions in the present informationsociety: public libraries and citizen networks. Amongst these services, those seen as more important could be, on the one hand, access to information, new technologies and the Internet and on the other, training in the use of these and in handling the information obtained from them so as to turn it into knowledge, that is, everything that is related to digital and information literacy. Without a doubt, these factors make up the basis for necessary cooperation which would have a great goal: the setting up of an information network for the community within which all institutions able to provide information would intervene, under the guidance and joint management of public libraries and citizen networks. The article focusses its attention on the reasons behind and the benefits of establishing a joint network between public libraries and citizen networks in those cities where both services currently coexist.
