- El fin principal de una biblioteca de hospital es suministrar la información de apoyo necesaria para aumentar la calidad de la atención al enfermo. Este objetivo se intenta alcanzar por un lado dando los servicios necesarios para mantener actualizados los conocimientos médicos y, por otro, facilitando información específica que ayude a establecer un mejor diagnóstico o tratamiento en un caso clínico concreto. Hospital librarians services must provide highly specific, case-related medical literature searches in a manner that permits the information obtained to influence ongoing case management. Starting with first hospital librarians, and continuing through the clinical librarians of the last decade, until now, with the new paradigm called Evidence Based Medicine, physicians need expert librarians to bridge the gap between the volumes of literature available and its relevance to health care.
